Low back, knee, hip issues or other...
Sometimes people are just "wound up" that before they start loading they need to take off their hockey pants. If you know, you know.

Comes from action. From focusing on what you need to do and doing it. Rather than on what you want to do and waiting for a reason to do so.
Work hard...so that you can be confident...so that you don’t care about what other people are saying or doing. Instead of asking,
"What is the best research available for the treatment of _____?" Try, What are the potential variables that may have lead to _____? Ask better questions. For most land based sports (court, field, ice, etc), you don't want to be top heavy. Proportionally.
You want to be bottom strong. Consider the lanes on a highway.
The lane for a healthy athlete is called training. The lane for an injured athlete is called rehab. It’s the same highway. Same destination. Along the path, the injured athlete will still merge onto the training lane at times, then merge back when necessary. But again, they’re still moving forward toward the destination. Training - keeping someone fit and prepared. Rehab - keeping someone fit and prepared, while simultaneously recovering. The destination is always the same. Attacking great toe extension is elementary. Unless there was an acute injury locally, doing so is targeting a byproduct. A downstream manifestation. A dependent variable.
Chronic pain is like snakes and ladders.
The key to management is to try and make the snakes shorter and less slippery, while at the same time make the ladders progressively easier to step on. Participant numbers are high and good practitioners treat each case, each athlete, each patient, like science experiments.
They strive for successful outcomes and constantly refine their theories and processes. To say an approach lacks evidence is ignorant. The Clinic IS Evidence. The clinic is where questions are formed. Questions that, even while still valid, may not make their way into formal research. Nuance, context, logistics. Methods and approaches that lead to successful outcomes are continued. Those that do not get modified. Adoption is the byproduct of the Peer Review process. Many practitioners keep themselves abreast of the literature and still demonstrate utmost critical thinking skills. To say they don't is ignorant. The Clinic IS Evidence. When you take risks, you challenge yourself.
When you challenge yourself, you get success. When you have success, you get good. When you're good, it looks easy. |
