NIHA – CANADA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TEAM ASSISTANT COACH AND TRAINER

Dauphin, MB – NIHA-Canada is pleased to announce the selection of Michael Hunt for the Assistant Coach position of the Mens National Team Program. Hunt is a familiar face to the National Team program as he has been involved as a player and Assistant Coach over the past two seasons.

“We’re very excited to have Mike as our Assistant Coach heading into the World Championships this season,” explains Jan Antons, Manager National Team Program. ” Mike brings knoweldge of the game of inline, experience at the world level and a plethora of intangibles to this team. He has the respect of the players, the team staff and of our organization.”

Hunt currently resides in the United States but still has strong ties to Canada and spends a lot of time in the Great White North.

“Mike has shown over the past two seasons that he is committed to the direction that NIHA-Canada has for our National Team Program and shares the common goal of a gold medal in the near future.” adds Nathan Fleck, Execuitve Director, NIHA-Canada. “Mike will play a major role in the selection process at the National Tryout Camps in May and i think a guy who has experience on the bench AND as a player at the IIHF event has the ability to help put the best team together so we can reach that common goal”

Also today, NIHA-Canada announced that Dr. Jeff Cubos will be a part of the National Team Staff as Trainer. Cubos has a long history of involvement with sport organisations and High Performance Teams and is a welcome addition to the team staff.

“Jeff has shown the drive and interest to help make the 2010 National Team the strongest we’ve ever put together.” Scott Hill, VP High Performance. “With his knowledge and expertise in the strength and conditioning area, we’ve added a component to our Staff that we have not had before and I think the program will benefit greatly from his dedication.”

NIHA-Canada’s Men’s National Team will be attending the IIHF Men’s World Inline Hockey Championships in Karlstad, Sweden at the end of June, 2010. National Team Tryout Camps will be held in BC/Alberta over the May 7-9 weekend and in Ontario / Quebec over the MAy 14-16th weekend. Tryout Camp locations to be dtermined shortly.
